Both teams had started the season with a win and the Claymores won the toss and received the kick off. Craig Nall went to work and drove the Claymores 85 yards, helped by a crazy "lateral play which put them in scoring position then capped the drive off with a 22 yard strike to Anthony Bright with Rob Hart adding the extra point. The defense stuffed the Frankfurt side on their opening posession and they went three and out but Rooths muffed the punt and Frankfurt recovered deep in Scotland territory. Ex Claymore James Brown then tied the score with a 25 yard pass to Marc Lester. Both teams struggled to move the ball and Shane Stafford took over from Nall but his first attempt was picked off as he tried to force the ball to McCready. Again the Claymores D stuffed the Galaxy and soon found themselves in scoring position but a 37 yard attempt by Holmes was wide although there seemed to be some dubiety about the call by the zebras. Frankfurt then missed a 28 yard chip shot field goal as the stalemate continued, then Stafford was again picked off by Barnes when the ball was batted into the air. Once again the defenses dominated and the half ended all square. Frankfurt drove after the second half kick off but the drive stalled and Hilbert kicked a 28 yard field goal to put them in front for the first time in the game. Nall took over in the next drive and hooked up again with McCready to put the ball on the Galaxy 31 yard line but the endzonr proved elusive and Holmes booted a 35 yard field goal wide. Quinn Gray resumed the controls for Galaxy and they capped off a fine drive when running back Jonas Lewis strolled in from the 2 yard live to put Frankfurt further in front. Scorland failed to move the ball and punted and Galaxy missed a chance to extend their lead when thay missed another Field Goal bu t Nall was then picked off for the first time this season as Barnes tied an NFLE record with his third pick of the game. With time against the Claymores, Nall then engineered a fine drive and hooked up with tight end Kent from 2 yards after a series of penaltys had helped them on their way, the extra point attempt was botched by the holder and left the Claymores down by 4 with just over a minute left. Holmes then attempted an onside kick but the Galaxy recovered. The final play of the game was a Frankfurt punt that was almost blocked but they ended up handing the Scots their first defeat of the season. Better execution and less sloppy play is demanded next week as they head off to Germany to play the Fire then the Thunder.
