SCOTTISH CLAYMORES  - 3
@
RHEIN FIRE - 31
SATURDAY 10TH APRIL 2004
BACK
The heavens opened in Germany as the Claymores went into game two of the 2004 season. Hybl went to work and connected with Davis and McCready to move into Fire territory. The drive stalled and Rob Hart came on to boot a 35 yard field goal through the uprights to nose the Claymores in front.
After a couple of changes in possession, Murphys tremendous 62 yard punt was called back for a penalty, although no Claymores player number was called by the refs, the retaken kick only went 29 yards and gave Fire great field position. Reynolds carried the most of the Fire attack and rumbled in to put Rhein in front.
Fire kicked a 20yard Field goal to put them in front by 7 at the half.
The first drive of the half was helped by a debatable interference call on the Claymores which moved Rhine to the redzone, two plays later they pulled further ahead with a Hutchison pass to Quasie.
Hybl started to move the Scots offence but disaster struch when a miscommunication between the QB and McCready led to the ball being picked off and returned 80 yards for a touchdown.
Things continued to go wrong as Hick fumbled deep in the Fure half and Rhein recovered the ball, then a nightmare snap on a punt led to Murphys punt being blocked which gave Rhein the ball at the Claymores 3. Two plays later Reynolds completed the scoring on a wet dismal day in the Rhine valley
