Without a win on the road for well over a year, the Claymores went onto the game against the Fire with a great deal of optimism after the demolition of the Dragons last week and when Tarver forced a fumble on the Fire kick off return, Dunlap recoveredit and put the offence in a superb position.  The Fire dug deep though and coach Dalquist had to settle for a 28 yard Rob Hart field goal.
Fire struggled to move the ball  and with ths Claymores in a scoring position on second and short Driesbachs pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage and intercepted.
The rest of the first quarter was littered with mistakes and penalties most of which prevented the Claymoes from putting the game away, and Rhein took advantage wham Burgsmuller kicked a 36 yardet to tie the game at the half
Once again the game was littered with sill mistakes as both sides struggled to take control and penalties by the Claymores negating great plays.
Fire scored early in the final quarter when Martin hooked up with Robinson, then Fire went further ahead after Driesbach was picjked off again and they kicked a 44 yard field goal.
This seemed at least to stir the Claymores into action and on a drive led mainly by great  running by Goodman, They finally got into the endzone when Fontana grabbed a toss by Dreisbach.
Fire went on a drive to try and seal the game but the defense stiffened and Burgsmuller missed a field goal to give the Claymores hope but again they shot themselves in the foot when another errant pass was picked off for the 4th time and Fire took a knee to record their first win of the season.
Difficult to udge this performance but penalties killed the Claymores here no doubt about it, also it looked as if the QB and his recievers were reading from different playbooks  most of the time.
A win in Frankfurt next week is a must now!!!
