CLAYMORES             23
@
THUNDER                  31
SUNDAY 2nd JUNE 2002  JAHN STADION , BERLIN
Yet another "must win" game in Germany and after moving the ball well and mixing up the plays the first Claymores drive was halted at the Thunder goal line when Dreisbach was picked off. This was the first in what was to me an unwanted record for the Detroit allocated quarterback as he would finish the day with an incredible 6 interceptions.
Berlin couldnt move the ball but despite the Claymores moving up the field on the back of frequent Thunder penalties, all that they could offer was a 23yard Hart Field Goal late in the first quarter.
Goodman scored the games first touchdown when he scampered in from 7 yards out to put the Claymores 10-0 in front but back came Berlin and Anthony White ran all over the Claymore much vauunted defense and scored to cut the lead.
As half time approached another good opportunity was wasted as Dreisbach was picked off again and the ball was returned 40yards to set up a 32 yard field goal which tied the score as the half expired.
Berlin went in front when Shaw blew through and blocked Langleys punt , Brickus scooped the ball up and scored at a canter. A 32 yard field goal by Tynes cut the lead, then Whisper Goodman sprinted in for his second TD of the game to put the Claymores in front again.
The game was virtually decided when Scott Shields returned an interception to the Thunder 4 yard line...but...again poor judgement by Dreisbach saw the ball picked off and the chance to kill off the Thunder went with it.
Berlin took full agavantage of the situation and looked comfotrable as they seemed to score at will, leaving them still alive in the race for the World Bowl, the Claymores however , have got to win both games and hope that Rhein lose both of theirs.....and if there are any more performances like this, it WONT happen
