Sunday 14th April 2002  Hampden Stadium

The 2001 World Bowl runners up were the first visitors to Scotland for the new season and a defensive stand on the Barcelona first series set the tone for the game.  Detroit allocated Quarterback Scott Dreisbach took the Claymores to the Dragons 4 yard line assisted by some strong running from Goodman then he hit Scott McCready at the back of the endzone for the first score of the game.
Another sustaineed drive in the second quarter stalled but Rob Hart tacked on a Field Goal then a change of quarterback helped move the Dragons and they scored when White rolled out and found his tight end in isolation in the end zone.
A tremendous kick off return by Rooths seemed to set the Claymores up just before half time but again the drive stuttered and it left the Claymores in front by three points at the half.
James Rooths' excellent kick off return put the Claymores in a great position at the start of the third quarter and Dreisbach took advantage when he hit McCready again, this time from 26 yards out to increase the lead.
The newly renamed FC Barcelona had to settle for a Field Goal to cut int the lead, but again Dreisbach engineered a drive which ended with Goodman running the ball into the endzone and although he fumbled as he crossed the line, the massive Jason Borum fell on the ball for his first ever TD.
JJ Moses got into the return act when he had a superb run to set up great field position and Goodman got the TD he richly deserved at the start of the fourth quarter. The Dragons refused to quit and they scored on a carbon copy of the ir TD, this time from further out.
Dreisbach then saw Gilliam deep and the ensuing pass interference penalty sae the Lions QB hook up with Carson for his third of the game.
The icing was put on the cake when Rooths capped a fine game with a 69yard interception return for another TD.
