SCOTTISH CLAYMORES -3
@
COLOGNE CENTURIONS - 17
SATURDAY 24TH APRIL 2004
BACK
We won the toss again and elected to take the ball and moved up the field with Hybl finding his favourite reciever McCready for 13 yards and then the same player made a great diving catch but the drive stalled again and Rob Hart booted a 25 yarder to put the first points on the board.
Cologne replied with a drive that was helped by two 15 yard personal fouls against the Claymores defense and Van Dyke threw a 15 yard TD pass to give the Centurions a lead that they wouls never relinquish.
The Claymores just couldnt move the ball and got bogged down and things went from bad to worse when blown coverage allowed a 33 yard TD by Cologne in the second quarter.
A pnt return which put the Claymores right into the Centurions red zone was called back for a hold deep in Claymores territory was just another example of mistakes causing the Claymores grief
As time wore down Hart missed a 47 yard Field Goal and the Centurins capitalised by moving right up the field and hitting on a 42 yard Field Goal of their own.
Cologne dominated the second half , pounding the ball up the middle against a tired but brave Claymores defense bu there was no further scoring and the NFLE new boys secured their first ever win at a canter. The Claymores however fell to 0 and 4 with the season rapidly imploding on them
