As the news filtered through that the Dradons had triumphed in Frankfurt, this game took on even more importance with both teams know that a loss would almost eliminate them from the World Bowl running. Amsterdam started well on the back of some strong Cooper Running but they stalled and had to settle for an O'Donnel field goal as the Claymores defense stepped up. Dreisbach was struggling to find recievers and the whole Claymores offense was struggling but when Ortiz intecepted Daft, the Claymores took over at the Admirals 12. They couldnt punch it in but the ever reliable Hart booted a 24 yard Field Goal to tie things up. The scores stayed tight untill the start of the third quarter when Dreisbach tossed a 37 yard pass to a diving Dondre Gilliam for his third TD of the season. Hard was automatic with the PAT The Admirals were far from out of it and O'Donnell kicked a 27 yarder before Daft hooked up with Hambrick for 21 yards and the go ahead touchdown. Dreisbach refused to be rattled and he spotted a vlown coverage in the Admirals secondary and hit Gilliam in stride who scored for a 51 yard touchdown. The Claymores D then stiffened and thwarted the Admirals as the Offence tried to control th clock. The Admirals got one last possession late in he game but Daft couldnt pull off the win. An ugly win for the Claymores but a win is acceptible under any circumstances Hats off to the defense again for another superb game |
